Agent Session Manager Desktop is an open-source desktop GUI for managing multiple AI coding-agent sessions.

Use Cases ▼
01

Manage several AI coding-agent sessions from one desktop window

02

Run agent and shell tabs side by side for a single project or repository

03

Keep separate working directories per tab when switching between repos

04

Answer waiting agent prompts via a header counter without changing tabs

05

Receive ntfy push notifications when an agent needs attention

06

Coordinate parallel Gemini, Aider, Codex, or similar terminal-based coding agents

07

Maintain persistent tmux-backed sessions while using a graphical interface

What Problem It Solves ▼

Running multiple terminal-based AI coding agents often means juggling tmux windows, losing track of which tab is waiting for input, and repeatedly switching contexts. Agent Session Manager Desktop centralizes agent and shell sessions in a desktop GUI, preserves per-tab working directories, highlights waiting agents with a header counter, and supports ntfy push notifications so users can respond promptly without hunting through terminal tabs.

Key Features ▼
✓

Desktop GUI reduces the overhead of managing many tmux terminal tabs

✓

Per-tab working directories help organize multi-repo and multi-task workflows

✓

Waiting-agent header counter surfaces prompts without manual tab switching

✓

ntfy push notifications extend monitoring beyond the desktop

✓

Open-source and built on Wails, Svelte, and xterm.js

Overview

Agent Session Manager Desktop is an open-source desktop GUI for managing multiple AI coding-agent sessions. It is described as the GUI counterpart of agent-session-manager and provides a graphical layer over tmux, allowing developers to keep several terminal-based agents organized in one window rather than juggling many terminal tabs. The application is built with Wails, Svelte, and xterm.js.

Full Description ▼

Each session can contain agent and shell tabs, and each tab has its own working directory, so different repositories, tasks, or contexts can run side by side without confusion. When an agent is waiting for input, a header counter appears; users can answer the prompt directly without switching tabs. The tool also supports ntfy push notifications, making it possible to notice waiting agents when away from the desk.

The project targets workflows where developers run multiple AI coding agents, such as Gemini, Aider, and Codex, in parallel. By combining tmux session persistence with a desktop GUI and notification indicators, it aims to reduce context switching and missed prompts in terminal-heavy AI-assisted coding.
