Overview

Quartz is an AI-native email client for Mac, currently in public beta. It connects to Gmail and is designed to help users focus on important messages by automatically categorizing every email into importance tiers: Important, Inbox, FYI, Icebox, and Noise. Important messages are displayed prominently, while lower-priority categories are collapsed to reduce clutter. The importance classification is learned over time and adapts to user behavior.

Full Description ▼

A key feature is its on-device AI: all classification and reply drafting runs locally on the user's Mac, specifically on Apple Silicon. This means email content never leaves the device for processing. Quartz also offers end-to-end encryption for stored mail, with keys held only by the user, and has achieved CASA Tier 2 certification under Google's Cloud Application Security Assessment.

Quartz includes an AI reply assistant that learns the user's writing style, relationship with the sender, and thread context. Users can provide a few bullet points, and Quartz generates a draft in their own cadence, phrasing, and warmth, avoiding generic LLM tone. The product is developed by datarockets and is free for beta users.
