AIHawk
AIHawk is an open-source AI browser agent that lets users describe tasks in plain English and then autonomously execute them on real websites. Instead of scripting browser interactions, a user can simply tell the agent what to do, and it will browse, click, type, and read content to accomplish the objective. This positions AIHawk as a computer-use assistant for the web rather than a traditional browser automation framework. The project includes a standalone user interface, making it accessible to non-programmers who want to delegate routine web tasks, while also offering a browser Model Context Protocol (MCP) for developers who use coding assistants such as VS Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI. Through MCP, these development environments gain the ability to control a browser through natural language, enabling agentic workflows that traverse websites, extract information, and interact with web applications directly. As an open-source solution, AIHawk is designed to be self-hosted and customized, giving users control over model configuration, browser behavior, and data handling. Its dual nature as both a UI application and an MCP server makes it flexible for individual automation, team productivity tools, or embedded agent infrastructure. However, like all web automation tools that rely on real site structure and AI reasoning, results may vary depending on page changes, site defenses, and the underlying language model used.

Problem solved
AIHawk solves the problem of manually performing repetitive or multi-step web tasks by allowing users to delegate them to an AI agent through natural language. It replaces brittle scripting with an adaptive browser agent that can operate real websites, complete forms, and retrieve information autonomously.
Use cases
- Automate form filling and data entry on web applications
- Extract or aggregate information from multiple web pages
- Perform end-to-end browser tests using natural language instructions
- Act as a personal research assistant to browse and summarize content
- Enable coding agents in VS Code, Codex, or Gemini CLI to navigate the web via MCP
- Create no-code browser automation through the standalone UI
Audience
- Developers
- Hobbyists
- Business Users
- Researchers
Pros
- Open source and self-hostable
- Natural language control instead of scripting
- Standalone UI included for non-developers
- Browser MCP integration with popular coding assistants
- Flexible for both simple and complex web tasks
Cons
- Reliability can be affected by frequent website layout changes
- Requires an underlying AI model and API keys, adding cost
- Browser handling may face challenges with anti-bot protections
- Limited official documentation and maturity compared to larger projects
