Densar BK is an encrypted backup system designed for entire working setups on Windows, focusing on reconstructing a functional development environment rather than simply copying files.

Use Cases ▼
01

Migrating a complete development environment to a new Windows PC

02

Disaster recovery for a developer machine with minimal manual reconfiguration

03

Replicating a project workspace with all dependencies on another computer

04

Creating a ready-to-run backup that includes hidden secrets and folder links

05

Quickly setting up a new hire's machine with an existing project state

What Problem It Solves ▼

Standard file backups restore data but fail to reconstruct a working development environment. Folder links become broken duplicates, credentials are lost, and programs must be manually reinstalled. Densar solves this by recreating the entire setup: it remaps junction points, preserves secrets, reinstalls applications, and identifies missing build steps so a developer's workflow runs immediately on a new machine.

Key Features ▼

✓

Open format with no vendor lock-in

✓

Portable single executable, no installation required

Overview

Densar BK is an encrypted backup system designed for entire working setups on Windows, focusing on reconstructing a functional development environment rather than simply copying files. Unlike traditional backup tools that duplicate folders, Densar understands project structures: it identifies and preserves folder links (Windows junctions), credentials, configuration files, and the dependencies needed to reinstall programs. The tool creates a single encrypted archive directly from disk, ensuring no plaintext data is ever written. After transferring the archive to a new PC, Densar rebuilds the machine by recreating folder links with correct remapping, restoring secrets, and installing required programs, leaving a clear list of remaining manual steps. It operates as a single portable executable (around 13 MB) that can run from a USB stick or be installed without administrator rights. All classic backup types (Mirror, Full, Differential, Incremental) are free; only the 'BK Smart AI' intelligent backup feature requires a one-time payment of 39 euros. Densar never phones home, uses an open format to avoid lock-in, and leaves no traces on the host disk.
