Overview

DevFeed is a polished, mobile-first Hacker News client designed for Android. It provides a cleaner and more intentional reading experience for developers who follow Hacker News on their phones. The app surfaces six core feeds—Top, New, Best, Ask, Show, and Jobs—in a dense but readable list layout with story metadata such as points, comment counts, and source domains. Users can tap into any story to read the article with inline context and, when needed, generate an AI-based summary that highlights key points.

Full Description ▼

Beyond browsing, DevFeed includes a built-in reading list that tracks saved stories and remembers which ones have been read or remain unread. The interface keeps article and discussion context close, allowing users to jump from an article to its Hacker News comment thread without losing their place. It is an independent, unofficial client built on top of the public Hacker News API, meaning it does not require any special permissions or account access.

The app is distributed as an Android APK through GitHub Releases, and its source code is available on GitHub. It focuses solely on Hacker News content and avoids extra feeds or interruptions, aiming to make the mobile reading experience lighter and clearer. DevFeed is not affiliated with Y Combinator or Hacker News.
