Gap-trip
Gap-trip (틈새나들이) is a mobile web application designed to help users plan casual day trips across South Korea. It aggregates live data on crowd levels, weather conditions, air quality, public transit travel times, and nearby bike‑sharing availability in one interface. Users can filter destinations by region (17 cities/provinces), travel time (<30, <60, <90 minutes), mode of transport (transit, car, walking), and activity type (solo, walk/run, kids, date, pet). The app presents a curated list of 'Top Picks' updated periodically, highlighting places that are currently less crowded than usual. Each place card shows a live crowd percentage, typical crowd level, current weather, air quality index, number of available bikes, and estimated transit time from the user’s location. A 'Quiet TOP 5' feature showcases the five least busy spots at the moment, with the option to share a summary card. Additional functionality includes saving favourite places to receive push alerts when conditions become favourable, and an 'Easy Route' planner that connects multiple destinations into a single itinerary with estimated total time. The service is free and ad‑supported via Google AdMob; it does not require an account for basic browsing, though signing in enables rating and saving features. Although it relies on public data sources and is not a government‑affiliated app, Gap‑trip provides a privacy‑conscious experience: user location is used only for nearby recommendations and not stored separately. The platform supports Korean, English, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese languages.
