Overview

GeekLink is a desktop AI subtitle application for macOS and Windows. It provides three focused workflows: OCR extraction of burned-in subtitles, translation of subtitle files, and speech transcription into subtitles. The app is designed for local-first processing, with the homepage stating that subtitle recognition and speech recognition run on the user's computer after initial model downloads; no uploads are required for those tasks. AI translation uses DeepSeek and requires an internet connection.

Full Description ▼

The OCR tool targets videos where subtitles are permanently embedded in the image, such as foreign films, dramas, documentaries, and social media clips. The transcription tool converts spoken audio into subtitle files, while the translation tool can translate subtitle files into more than 40 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, and others. GeekLink can also export finished videos with processed subtitles.

GeekLink is distributed as a native desktop app. The macOS build requires macOS 13.0 or later and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4); Intel Macs are not supported. A Windows 64-bit desktop build is also available. The app offers a 7-day free trial of Pro features without sign-up or login, and Pro activation uses a license key. App data is stored under ~/Library/Application Support/GeekLink/ on macOS, with exports under ~/Movies/GeekLink Exports/.
