getdesign is an AI-powered tool that extracts design systems from public website URLs.

Use Cases ▼
01

Extract a website's color palette, fonts, and spacing to create a design system for a new project

02

Generate a design.md file to give coding agents like Cursor or Claude Code context about an existing site's design

03

Automate design token extraction in a CI/CD pipeline using the CLI or HTTP API

04

Create a style guide from a competitor's website for design inspiration and documentation

05

Use the Skill inside a coding agent to extract design context with the agent's own tools

06

Capture screenshots and design system details for client presentations or redesign proposals

What Problem It Solves ▼

Extracting a design system from an existing website currently requires manual inspection of CSS, color pickers, and typography tools, which is time-consuming and error-prone. getdesign automates this by reading the live site's CSS and rendered output to produce a structured design.md, saving hours when rebuilding interfaces or providing design context to AI coding agents.

Key Features ▼
✓

Extracts design systems from any public website URL using a real browser and actual CSS

✓

Outputs a structured design.md file that is readable by humans and usable by AI coding agents

✓

Offers multiple surfaces: web dashboard, API, CLI, SDK, and coding agent Skill

✓

Free to use, with no getdesign billing; you only pay for your own Daytona and OpenAI usage

✓

Supports publishing runs to share design documents and screenshots via a link

Overview

getdesign is an AI-powered tool that extracts design systems from public website URLs. It opens the site in a real browser, reads the site's actual CSS, and captures the rendered page to identify colors, typography, spacing, and components. The output is a downloadable design.md file that can be used as a style guide or provided as context to a coding agent.

Full Description ▼

The tool offers five surfaces: a web dashboard, an HTTP API (GET /v1/design returning Markdown or JSON), a CLI runnable with bunx @getdesign/cli, a TypeScript SDK installable via bun add @getdesign/sdk, and a portable Skill for coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. The CLI, SDK, and Skill run locally on Bun, while the API and web dashboard provide hosted runs.

getdesign is currently in beta and free to use, but hosted runs require your own Daytona and OpenAI API keys; there is no getdesign API key or run billing in V1. Users pay Daytona for browser capture and OpenAI for model usage. Dashboard runs are private until published, at which point a shareable link allows viewing and downloading the design document and screenshots.
