KanuniLabs DataGrid & PivotGrid
KanuniLabs DataGrid & PivotGrid is a commercial set of high-performance data visualization components for React 18+ and plain JavaScript. The product is a framework-agnostic core with separate DataGrid and PivotGrid components: the DataGrid provides virtualized scrolling, sorting, filtering, grouping, and inline editing, while the PivotGrid adds pivot-table analysis with calculated fields, chart synchronization, and styled export. According to the vendor, all heavy operations run in a Web Worker, and sorting, filtering, and searching a million rows can be done in under 100 ms in the browser while keeping the UI responsive. The component family is distributed through npm. The Community edition is free of charge, includes 98 of the 136 features, has no watermark or expiration, and permits commercial use. Features that require a paid tier include inline editing, server-side data integration, multi-level grouping, charts, and styled Excel/PDF export. The software is proprietary; even the free Community edition is not open source, as the vendor explicitly states that an OSI-approved license is not part of the offer. KanuniLabs DataGrid & PivotGrid ships with 12 locales, including Arabic RTL, and the UI is localized out of the box. It offers a CSP-safe formula editor for calculated fields, visual prefilter builders, and drill-down to underlying rows. The test suite contains more than 3,000 tests across 258 files, and most documented features have a live, editable demo on the website.

Problem solved
Rendering and analyzing large tabular data in browsers often causes jank and unresponsiveness. KanuniLabs solves this by pushing sorting, filtering, grouping, and pivot computation into a Web Worker and by using virtualization so only visible rows are painted. Developers get React and vanilla JavaScript components with a free community tier and optional paid capabilities for editing and export.
Use cases
- Displaying and navigating million-row data grids in React applications
- Creating interactive pivot tables with calculated fields in the browser
- Adding inline editing and data updates to grid-based UIs
- Running client-side filtering/grouping/analysis without server round-trips
- Exporting styled Excel and PDF reports from grid and pivot views
- Embedding a data grid in a plain HTML/JavaScript project with no framework
- Using RTL-ready data components for Arabic or Hebrew interfaces
Audience
- Developers
- Data Scientists
- Enterprise
- Startups
Pros
- High performance through Web Worker offload and virtualized rendering
- Supports React and plain JavaScript from the same core
- Free community edition covers 98 of 136 features and includes commercial use
- Localization with 12 locales, including full RTL support
- Styled Excel/PDF export streamed off the main thread
Cons
- Not open source; source code is proprietary even for the free tier
- Advanced features such as charts, editing, and styled export require paid licensing
- Only React 18+ and vanilla JavaScript renderers are officially offered
- All-in-one bundle may be overkill if only a basic grid is needed
- Pricing is not published, so cost transparency is limited
