KiffOS is a native macOS desktop application that provides a sovereign, locally-run AI assistant and agent.

Use Cases ▼
01

Voice-controlled system commands and app launching

02

Locally assisted document writing and formatting

03

Offline email reading, triage, and reply drafting

04

Secure file browsing and management via natural language

05

Smart home device control without cloud dependency

06

Network anomaly detection and active defense

What Problem It Solves ▼

KiffOS addresses the loss of privacy and control inherent in cloud-dependent AI assistants. By running a powerful language model entirely locally and enforcing a permission-based governance layer, it ensures that personal data, documents, and commands never leave the device, and that the agent cannot perform unauthorized actions. It enables sovereign, offline-capable AI assistance for everyday tasks.

Key Features ▼

Overview

KiffOS is a native macOS desktop application that provides a sovereign, locally-run AI assistant and agent. It leverages GPU-accelerated inference on Apple Silicon to run large language models entirely on the user's machine, without requiring cloud connectivity, accounts, or subscriptions. The system is built around three core principles: local-first execution, security through permission verification, and user governance of all sensitive actions.

Full Description ▼

The application includes a voice interface, document writing and editing tools, email management (IMAP/SMTP), file browsing, and app launching, all controlled via natural language. A unique feature is its permission verifier that intercepts every system call the agent attempts, enforcing a deny-by-default policy and requiring user approval for any sensitive operation, such as accessing files or the network. A basic active defense (EHA) maps network traffic and flags anomalies.

KiffOS is available in a free edition with core local features and a Pro edition that adds connected-world capabilities: mail, web, social media integration, smart home control, and advanced defense with alerts, auto-response, and peer-to-peer mesh. The Pro license is a one-time purchase. The smart home beta supports local voice commands and HTTP/MQTT gateways, with plans for Matter and Zigbee.

The software targets users who prioritize data sovereignty and offline operation. It runs on macOS 11+ with Apple Silicon (M1–M4) and as little as 8 GB of RAM, with models ranging from 3B to 14B parameters depending on available memory. The long-term vision includes a bare-metal Rust micro-kernel for an even more isolated execution environment.
