Overview

Literacy Leap is a web-based platform that enables any caring adult—parent, tutor, or librarian—to deliver personalized, one-on-one phonics instruction to children in grades K‑3. Grounded in the Science of Reading, it provides a structured, multi-sensory approach through a series of quick, scripted lessons that cover visual and auditory drills, blending, spelling, and decodable stories. The platform begins with a 15-minute screening assessment that pinpoints a child’s specific skill gaps and generates an immediate, printable report. From there, an AI-driven personalized skills path prioritizes the right phonics skills, sequentially unlocking new concepts as the child demonstrates mastery. Each lesson is designed to last about 25 minutes and includes on-screen activities, writing tasks, and AI-generated stories matched exactly to the child’s current reading level.

Full Description ▼

Literacy Leap is also purpose-built for public and school libraries. Patrons can log in with their library card, and library administrators have access to a dashboard for program management and usage tracking. An optional library add-on cross-references the child’s assessed skill level with the library’s catalog to recommend decodable books available for checkout, effectively turning the catalog into a personalized reading prescription. This feature supports scaling from a single branch to an entire district.

To keep children motivated, the platform includes a rewards system called Lemur World. After each session, kids earn coins based on lesson completion, assessment performance, and daily streaks, which they can spend to customize a 3D lemur character and its environment. This gamification element reinforces consistent practice while allowing children to express creativity.

By combining assessment-driven personalization, scripted explicit instruction, and library integration, Literacy Leap lowers the barrier for any adult to deliver high-quality reading intervention without prior expertise or extensive preparation.
