Use Cases ▼
01

Pre-product-market fit research on a startup idea

02

Evaluating an idea before allocating cash, time, or engineering effort

03

Testing whether to pivot or keep iterating on a current side project

04

Uploading an existing pitch or business plan document for re-evaluation

05

Understanding a market's minimum viable scale and competitor density

06

Getting a sourced, checkable research report rather than an AI write-up

What Problem It Solves ▼

AI-based idea review tools are predominantly biased toward agreeing with the user, since they are trained to be helpful and cooperative. Because of that, founders receive false validation instead of an objective assessment. PMF Signal solves this by judging an idea against a founder's actual constraints and issuing a BUILD, PIVOT, or PASS verdict, with every claim in the report carrying a source so the user can check the facts. The verdict is computed from independent section scores and the tool has a proven track record of saying no, making it a reliable counterweight to optimistic AI.

Overview

PMF Signal is an idea research engine for solo founders. It evaluates one business idea against a founder's own constraints—budget, hours per week, revenue goal, and five skill axes—and produces a 16-section research report with a verdict of BUILD, PIVOT, or PASS. The tool is intentionally designed to say no and provides verbatim receipts with links for every claim, allowing users to verify the research. It structures the verdict by scoring sections such as pain, timing, market ceiling, and founder fit independently before composing the final assessment, so the prose cannot distort the underlying numbers.
