PureMIDI
PureMIDI is an AI-powered online toolkit that converts audio recordings and sheet music into editable MIDI files. It supports a wide range of audio formats including MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WEBM, AAC, and AIFF, as well as video files (MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V) by extracting their audio tracks. For sheet music, it accepts PDF, MusicXML, MXL, PNG, JPG, and WebP scores, using AI vision models for image-based scores and direct parsing for MusicXML. The service is browser-based, requiring no plugins or installations, and outputs standard .mid files compatible with all major DAWs and notation software such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, GarageBand, Studio One, Pro Tools, MuseScore, Sibelius, and Dorico. PureMIDI offers a credit system with a free trial of 2 credits valid for 14 days upon account creation, followed by one-time credit packs for continued use. It prioritizes user privacy by automatically deleting successful uploads within 3 days and retaining failed uploads for up to 14 days for recovery purposes. The service explicitly states that user audio and scores are never used to train AI models. Conversion speed and quality are optimized for short musical phrases, solos, and isolated instrument parts, with separate tool pages dedicated to specific input types such as audio-to-MIDI, MP3-to-MIDI, video-to-MIDI, piano-to-MIDI, guitar-to-MIDI, YouTube-to-MIDI, and sheet music conversion. While the core audio-to-MIDI converter is live, some features like PDF/sheet music conversion are in beta, and an AI MIDI Generator for prompt-based creation is on a waitlist. The service also includes a built-in MIDI editor for direct online editing of converted files. PureMIDI is geared toward music producers, composers, educators, and learners who need fast, accessible MIDI transcription without complex setup.
