PyCodeAGI
PyCodeAGI is an open-source experimental artificial general intelligence (AGI) agent designed to autonomously generate complete Python applications from natural language descriptions. Built on top of LangChain and inspired by the BabyAGI framework, it takes a user's prompt about the desired app and uses a large language model (GPT-4 by default) to write the code. The agent then executes the generated code, allowing users to instantly see a working prototype. Recent updates have added Streamlit support, enabling the agent to produce interactive web-based front-ends. The project is in its early stages, with a minimal codebase consisting of a few Python scripts. Users provide their OpenAI API key and configure parameters via a config.ini file. The core logic chains LLM calls to plan and generate the application code, which is then saved and run. There is no complex orchestration or task decomposition; it relies on a single LLM chain to generate the entire app in one shot. As a small AGI experiment, PyCodeAGI demonstrates the potential of using LLMs for end-to-end software creation, but it lacks robustness and extensive error handling. It is intended for educational purposes and quick prototyping rather than production use. The generated apps are limited to Python and generally simple in scope.

Problem solved
Many individuals and developers have ideas for small Python applications but lack the time, expertise, or patience to implement them from scratch. PyCodeAGI automates this by converting a simple text description into a working application, eliminating manual coding and accelerating the prototyping process. It lowers the barrier to creating functional software, enabling faster experimentation and iteration.
