stashrelay
Stashrelay is a hosted shared-clipboard service for AI applications, built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It allows text to be stashed in one AI conversation and retrieved from another without downloading, re-uploading, or pasting large blocks of text. Users connect their AI clients to an MCP endpoint at https://stashrelay.io/mcp and authorize with the same stashrelay account; all connected clients then share one disposable workspace. Once connected, the service exposes a small toolset: stash writes an item under a chosen name; pop removes and retrieves an item; read views an item without removing it; list shows names and summaries; discard deletes by name; and clear removes all items. Items are bounded by time and slot count rather than meant for permanent storage. Bodies and summaries are encrypted before storage, and stashing always leaves a copy, never moving or modifying the original source material. The service is free with no paid plans for every account: one slot, a one-hour item lifetime, 64 KB per item, and a rate limit of five requests per minute. Stashrelay is designed as a transit layer for work-in-progress context, not as a document store or knowledge base.

Problem solved
Transferring context between separate AI apps or conversations is tedious and error-prone, often requiring copying and pasting long text, re-uploading files, or manually maintaining context. Stashrelay solves this by providing a shared, expiring clipboard that any connected MCP-compatible AI app can write to and read from using the same account, enabling quick handoffs without permanent storage.
Use cases
- Handing off a generated draft from one AI chat to another AI app for editing
- Moving a conversation summary from a desktop AI client to a mobile device
- Carrying a code diff, prompt, or instruction into a separate assistant session
- Temporarily storing a polished response to use as reference in another conversation
- Sharing short-lived task context between MCP-enabled AI applications under the same account
- Passing a working context from a research assistant to a writing assistant
