Video to Prompt is a free, browser-based AI tool that analyzes a short video clip or a YouTube Shorts link and converts what it sees into an editable text prompt.

Use Cases ▼
01

Reverse-engineer the prompt behind a cinematic clip you want to imitate

02

Extract style, lighting, and camera-movement cues from a music video

03

Draft image prompts from short film scenes for Midjourney or FLUX

04

Create video-model prompts for Veo, Kling, Runway, or Seedance from reference footage

05

Convert a YouTube Shorts link into a reusable text prompt without downloading the file

06

Build a reusable library of prompt templates from sample clips

What Problem It Solves ▼

Recreating a specific visual look in an AI image or video generator usually requires manually describing camera work, lighting, subject, style, and motion. Extracting those details from an existing clip by hand is slow and easy to miss. Video to Prompt automates that reverse-engineering step, turning a short video or YouTube Shorts link into a structured, editable text prompt that can be copied into downstream generation tools.

Key Features ▼
✓

First analysis is free and requires no signup

✓

Returns structured shot-by-shot breakdowns rather than a vague caption

✓

Output is plain editable text and works with many downstream image/video models

✓

Supports both file upload and YouTube Shorts links

✓

Sample clip can be analyzed without uploading anything

Overview

Video to Prompt is a free, browser-based AI tool that analyzes a short video clip or a YouTube Shorts link and converts what it sees into an editable text prompt. Rather than generating media itself, it performs the reverse step: it inspects an existing video and produces descriptive prompt text that can be reused in AI image and video generation tools.

Full Description ▼

The workflow is deliberately narrow. A user uploads a short file (MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, or MPEG, limited to roughly 20MB and 60 seconds on the free plan) or pastes a YouTube Shorts URL they have the rights to process. The service then returns a shot-by-shot, scene-by-scene breakdown covering the main subject and appearance details, setting and background, action and motion, camera framing and movement, lighting, visual style, mood, and audible cues. Output is plain editable English text, with selectable prompt-format presets such as General, Kling, and Veo.

Because the result is text, it is model-agnostic. The site states the prompts can be pasted into video models such as Seedance, Veo, Kling, Wan, and Runway, or image models such as Midjourney, GPT Image, FLUX, and Nano Banana. The tool does not render images or video, and it emphasizes that users should only submit content they own or have permission to process. A first analysis is offered without signup, and a sample clip can be run without uploading anything.
