Overview

Vificil is a local-first desktop developer tool for Windows that helps developers safely apply AI-generated code changes to local software projects. Instead of manually copying files and edits from an AI conversation, Vificil provides a structured patch workflow with archive validation, file-integrity checks, trusted project state, local verification commands, backups, and automatic rollback when verification fails. The tool is designed to work with ChatGPT and Claude without requiring an API key, making it accessible for developers who use these AI services directly.

Full Description ▼

Vificil detects a downloaded compatible patch file, validates its security and integrity, and either presents it for approval or applies it automatically, depending on the selected application mode. Users can add a local project, create a filtered Full Source Context, provide it to an AI service, and use Vificil to validate and apply compatible patch archives. The tool emphasizes privacy: it does not upload source code, project files, generated context archives, or verification output to external servers. All project processing is performed locally on the user's device.

The application offers two tiers. Vificil Basic provides an approval-required workflow with safe patch validation, touched-file hash checks, local verification, and recovery protections. Basic usage is unlimited but supports one project at a time. Optional Vificil Pro adds advanced project-state awareness, source monitoring, Delta Sync, additional workflow automation, and support for unlimited projects. This makes Vificil suitable for developers who want to maintain control and oversight over AI-assisted code changes while reducing the risk of introducing errors.
