Overview

Elvean is a native macOS AI workspace and client that unifies access to hundreds of AI models from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Grok, DeepSeek, Cerebras, Ollama, LM Studio, MLX, and any OpenAI-compatible API, including 300+ models via OpenRouter. It offers a single interface to chat with cloud and local models, switch models mid-conversation, and store API keys securely in the macOS Keychain without markup.

Full Description ▼

The app organizes work into Projects with persistent, filesystem-based knowledge bases. Users can add files, create and edit pages, set persistent system instructions, and enable auto-distill to automatically extract key facts into the knowledge base after each response. Elvean also supports agentic research with multi-step tool calling, web search, image search, and connectors to external tools like Slack, Notion, Linear, Sentry, and Atlassian through MCP.

Elvean renders AI responses as interactive content, including Chart.js and TradingView charts, sortable and filterable tables, embedded Apple Maps with pinned locations, photo galleries, and Mermaid diagrams. It runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 13 or later, and is distributed as a freemium native application.
