Overview

PDFyre is a free collection of browser-based PDF tools that run entirely client-side using JavaScript. Users can OCR scanned PDFs into searchable files, merge, split, compress, rotate, convert PDF to images, and combine images into PDF. All processing happens locally in the browser with no file uploads, no backend servers, and no account required.

Full Description ▼

The flagship OCR tool uses Tesseract.js to embed an invisible, word-aligned text layer into scanned documents. It supports over 100 languages including English, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian, and offers five quality modes from Fast (150 DPI) to Lossless (PNG). Images are preserved, and the output remains compact and searchable.

Other utilities include merging multiple PDFs without quality loss, splitting by page ranges, compressing by re-rendering at optimized quality (Light, Balanced, or Aggressive), converting pages to PNG/JPEG, combining images into PDF, and rotating pages. The tools have no file size limits, no watermarks, and work offline after initial load as language models are cached.
