Overview

Vocards is a free vocabulary learning application that combines artificial intelligence with spaced repetition. Users can capture words from any context—by typing, pasting lists, describing a topic, snapping a photo, using the share sheet on mobile, or via a browser extension—and the AI automatically generates flashcards with translations, example sentences, part of speech, register notes, and native-quality audio. It supports over 30 languages and provides ready-made decks organized by CEFR level.

Full Description ▼

Learning is gamified through swipe gestures, multiple-choice quizzes, and fill-in-the-gap exercises. The spaced repetition algorithm schedules reviews at increasing intervals (e.g., day 1, 6, 16, 40, 100, 240) to reinforce memory just before forgetting. Sessions are designed to be short, around five minutes, and do not require manual self-grading.

Vocards works offline once decks are downloaded to the mobile apps. Teachers can create decks and share them with students via a simple link, and students get their own copy. The service also integrates with Kindle and Google Play Books to import vocabulary highlights, making it easy to turn reading into active vocabulary study.
